Stefano Del Giacco is Professor of Medicine and of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. He is the Head of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Unit at the University Hospital "Duilio Casula" in Monserrato (Cagliari), Italy.
He has been Visiting Academic at the Imperial College London, UK, in 2011 and 2012.
His research interests vary within a wide range of topics in Allergy & Clinical Immunology, but focus primarily on Asthma (particularly on severe asthma, use of biologics in asthma and asthma and psychiatric disorders), Hereditary Angioedema and Exercise-Induced Hypersensitivity syndromes with focus on Exercise-Induced Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
He is author of more than 170 papers on Allergy and Clinical Immunology, most of which peer-reviewed, and of a number of book chapters and monographs.
He has been nominated “expert” of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and has held several positions within the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), to which he is a member since 1998, including JMA representative, IG Allergy, Asthma & Sports Chair, Asthma Section Secretary and ExCom Member-at-large. He is currently the EAACI Vice-President Education and Specialty, and President-elect.
